my little boy fell from the top bunk tonight.
it was very scary.
i was sitting right there, and had one of his dresser drawers pulled out and on the floor because i was going through it (transitioning for fall clothes). he was on the top bunk, and i was sitting on the bottom bunk. he reached way out to try and grab some glue off the top of his dresser and went right over.
it could have been so much worse.
he grazed the side of the drawer and has a nasty-looking scrape on the back of his shoulder, and a bruise that runs a line across his back.
he screamed for about three minutes as i held him and then said
"i'm ok, but i'm still going to cry because that was scary!"
i told him that's ok and i was too. (going to cry some more)
it could have been so much worse.
sam had the car.
there are no keys to the bus here and i don't think i could drive the bus in any kind of emergency state anyway.
ugh,
i'm nauseous.

and, just as a side note, we were rejected from the lovely healthy familes low-income insurance because WE DON'T MAKE ENOUGH. we don't make enough for low-income insurance. i guess we qualify for free medical but blah. fuck all of that.

on a brighter note, we are going to try out a ballet and tap class tomorrow afternoon in silverlake. i don't have tap shoes (anybody got em in a size 10 or 11 kids?) so i glued bottle caps the the bottom of some handmedown sneakers. i had to use carpenter glue cuz i didn't have hot glue so i hope it works. they look very cute, they are nutbrown ale tap shoes.

ugh.

Hey Sholanda,
That was scary about your boy!
Isaiah almost ran right off this balcony
here the other day... I need to get the railing
finished. Something can happen in one second!!!

Jah bless the scared guy! That is good he is ok.
I lost place of where you had those icons you kindly
made us when I was out west... I wondered if you knew
where they were. Sorry! I remember they are real cool.

i'm so glad ijah is ok, but holy shit! scary scary.

and sucks about health insurance thing. how fucked up is that? it's like when my school doesn't give financial aid to those whose income is outside of their allotted window. so you could make too little or too much to qualify. what the hell is that about. (not my current school btw. this was when i was going to university)

I scared the crap out of myself and my mother when I was about 7 or 8.

I am supposed to be taking a nap on my bunk bed and I was on the bottom. I was pushing the top bed up and down with my legs when it fell down on me.

I screamed bloody murder and so did my mother. I got trapped underneath it and my mother lifted the bed enough so I could get out. I remember I had skinned knees and a bloody chin. Bunk beds can be scary things.

How scary. B-boy wants a bunkbed too but I'm not sure if I'll sleep at night for fear he'll crack his head open.

And I want to see those nutbrown ale tap shoes. that is too funny!

get the free insurance

OOOUGH!! (commenting late-due to all other previous comments stating what I was thinking) Poor little guy- those moments are so frightening- (I remember when I was babysitting one time & the little guy was by the front door- someone came flying through & knocked him right in the head )- OHHH GODD!! Thank heavens for the resilient little bodies- And he said "I'm o.k. but I'm still going to cry because that was scary"??? AWWWW! What a little adorable munchichi!!!! YOu guys are so sweet.

Glad everyone is okay. That must have been terrifying to see your angel boy fall from something so high!
Have you checked on eBay for tap shoes? Just a thought, though I'm sure the bottlecap shoes are Super Cool, too.
