I miss the fries at Braums. That was the highlight of the trip to visit my great grandparents, those fries. I still remember exactly how the meal of my siblings and me, fries and a plain cheeseburger, looked spread out on those tables. It's funny how food stays with you.

Push is my #1 book I wish I'd never read. I remember reading it, it was some time between January 1995 and October 1996 because I remember where we lived when I read it. I cried and cried and STILL have nightmares about that book. I can't believe it is now a movie.

Man, word to that. When I was pregnant and a new mom, I devoured anything and everything written about or for pregnant teens, but that book was wayyy beyond what I was able to handle at the time. I hated the book and even the movie previews give me one of those chill down my spine, nails on the chalkboard, giant roach in the bathroom in the middle of the night kind of NOOOO feelings. To much horror and sadness for one book!

Oh, yes, you said it exactly. I had my twins when I was 19, in 1993, so I was barely out of my teens when I read it. It was just way too much. I did do some google searches recently when there was all the talk about the movie, and was relieved to discover that it was not an autobiography. There's a really great interview with her here: http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_m1285/is_n6_v26/ai_18450196/.

As far as Italian meats, beyond the salamis you could try procuitto (especially since you like ham) and mortadella (if you like bologna, that is), they are both pretty available. It's not all that sophisticated in my opinion, it's just stuff you put on a sandwich, like bologna!

And I always think of you when I hear that song :-)
