posting for deb. here is the granny square afghan. there is no pattern or counting, you just granny square.

start with a chain of 10 and pull it into a loop. then double crochet 3 stitches, looping under the loop. like, you don't go into any stitches, it's really easy. chain 3 and then double crochet 3 again. do this until you have 4 sets of 3. then the second row: since all spaces are corners, it's kind of weird. you have to always do 2 sets of three in the corners, that's how you turn the corner and make a 90 degree angle. so the second row is all 2 sets of three. then the third row (ps you have to turn the whole thing over each time you start a new row), you do a set of three in each space and 2 sets of three in the corners. repeat ad infinitum. i'm probably not making much sense, it's one of those things you have to show people.

Also --and here is where my domestic nature sneaks out--could not help but notice the rug....So how the hell do you or whoever keep that white rug so white? That's like, appaulingly clean! the carpet is my mother's. she's ocd. her couches are white, too. we're not allowed to lay on them without a towel under our heads, lest our greasyass hair leave a spot.

Cool afghan, though, thanks for posting a picture. I am going to give that pattern a try, but first I have to finish this afghan I'm working on that has taken me three winters to finish. I swear I will finish it by the end of January!

What the fuck happened to that tree? Why does it look like that? What on earth makes it do that? Does it survive that? If not, does this happen every year? So many questions! (can you tell I'm an LA-boy?)

That made me laugh for no other reason than that it looks so silly that way, but there must be some interesting science behind it. I especially like the one branch sticking out of the top.

there was a wicked ice storm (worst in state's history) and it made all the old growth trees' branches fall with the weight of the ice. it looks like that everywhere. it also knocked out over half a million households of power. that's one in three oklahomans. it was a national news story and everything.

most of the trees have that interesting triad pattern of fallen branches and one in the middle. it's totally wild.
