Oct. 21st, 2001 09:08 amgood morning
i had a lively evening last night with hipmamas heather and dorie. we ate at lalibela, the ethiopian place in tempe. it was cool to experience new food. (i must say, i have completely recovered from my eating disorder. food is fucking AWESOME and i can't believe i missed out on it for so many years. cest la vie, though. oklahoma, what else can i say?)we had this HUGE platter of different vegetarian foods (becasue they both are. fuck yeah). it was like this really good thing made of green beans and carrots and another brown lentil thing and a collard green and garlic thing that was surprisinly good. i didn't try the cabbage thing, though. the bread was spongey and elastic, it was the funkiest bread i had ever seen. it was good, though. and you don't use silverware, of course, you break off pieces of bread and scoop up the food with that.
but oh, the wine! it was called the "sweet red wine" and that it was. heather and i were dying over it but dorie said it was medium grade. i must be a lowerclass winer. i thought it was quite lovely but as i was driving to ahwatukee and back and forth to phoenix a hundred times i had only a glass and a half. i was drinking responsibly. :) go me.
dorie and heather crack me up. we had most of the resturaunt looking at us as we were dying laughing most of the time. those girls rock. and we all have little kids. mine's the oldest. heather just gave up her car so she stays home with 2 babies. she really needs to get out of that house sometimes and she was being soooo funny. talking about scoring guys: "should i go there with a baby hanging off my tit? wouldn't that be sexy?"
she's fucking hilarious. and she's vegan (like 90% i guess. she deviates sometimes i suppose). and she's fucking radical. i like that in a person: i am very attracted to radical people for some reason.
dorie's super cool, too. that girl is s t r o n g. she has dealt with a lot of shit and is currently dealing with a lot of custody bullshit. i've got my fingers crossed for her, she's an awesome girl. funny, and hip, and very smart. i like smart girls :)
anyway, it was nice to hang with a group of women, it was nice to see friends i haven't seen much of. it's nice to make new friends. reminds me that i'm ok and people might even like me.
well, some of them.
