Jul. 9th, 2001 09:49 ami am quite the little postmistress today. i have 2 packages going out for the bookstore, a package for leah because it's her birthday
HAPPY BIRTHDAY LEAH!!!
and a package for my mum of trader joe's pretzels and photos of the kid.
also correspondence to whitney, bills, and az tax. whew!
i slept like a rock. that massage really did it for me. i was totally relaxed. i stayed up reading david sedaris until 1am and got up at 7:30 to get i.s. ready for school.
there's this mom at his school-- sam calls her the dixie chick. her hair is teased and sprayed and stands up all poofy from her head. i wonder if she knows i just rolled out of bed and put on my clothes from yesterday and stuffed my hair into a ponytail holder. how do people have time to do hair, makeup, etc and get the kid to school by 8:30???? my mom used to get up at 5:30 so she could be at work by 8. what a strange world we live in.
sam got a photo traffic ticket. at first he was going to fight it, since is was very stupid that he got it. and of course, what they want you to do is just pay by intimidation of them having a photo of you. you can't tell anything from the photo except that it is sam, but you can't see what's going on around him at all. BUT if he fights it in court and they find him guilty he has to pay double. or he can go to defensive driving school and not pay.
i heard this guy on the radio who was the expert at getting out of tickets. he said to ask for a continuation and call the police dept and ask if your prosecuting officer was working every day for a week. then you know his days off and you can schedule your court date on his day off and it's more unlikely that he will show up. but sam, when it really comes down to it, is chickenshit to go to court and chickenshit to call the popo. so he's paying.
they flashed me, too. the camera, i mean. same intersection (it's not really fair, we live right by this intersection, we have a greater chance of getting busted for running red lights). so i hope my ticket is not in the mail, too. i don't know what i would do! our insurance would go up a lot. especially because sam has a reasonable story (traffic stopped in front of him, leaving him stranded in the intersection while the light changed). i just ran the light because i didn't want to wait. i mean, it was yellow when i entered and all. orange.
